About the Team:
The Reliability Engineering team is a core part of the missile development and sustainment effort, ensuring that every subsystem meets stringent performance and safety requirements throughout the product lifecycle. We work closely with design, test, and production groups to identify, analyze, and mitigate failure mechanisms, driving continuous improvement and mission critical availability.
- Failure Analysis & Reporting – Conduct Root Cause Analyses (RCA) on test and field data, prepare clear reports, and recommend corrective actions.
- Reliability Modeling – Apply Weibull, exponential, and other statistical models to predict component and system reliability.
- Test Planning & Execution – Assist in designing and executing environmental, vibration, thermal, and life cycle tests; collect and interpret data.
- Data Management – Maintain reliability databases (e.g., MIL HDBK 217, FMEA) and ensure traceability of test results.
- Design Reviews – Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews, providing reliability input and highlighting potential risk areas.
- Continuous Improvement – Contribute to the development of reliability standards, procedures, and best practice documentation.
- Collaboration – Work with suppliers, manufacturing, and quality groups to ensure reliability goals are met across the supply chain.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Academic
Experience:
Coursework or project work in reliability engineering, statistical analysis, fatigue/structural analysis, or control systems. - Technical
Skills:
Proficiency with SQL, or R for data analysis; familiarity with reliability software (e.g., Relia Soft, Minitab) is a plus. - Analytical Ability:
Strong problem solving skills; ability to interpret complex test data and translate findings into actionable recommendations. - Communication:
Effective written and oral communication; ability to produce clear technical reports and present findings to multidisciplinary teams. - Clearance:
Ability to obtain a security clearance (U.S. citizen or permanent resident required). - Team Orientation:
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced, multidisciplinary environment.
- Internship or co op experience on aerospace or missile systems.
- Exposure to failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), Reliability Predictions, or any other reliability analysis.
- Knowledge in statistics, binomial events, population comparisons, or design of experiments.
- Knowledge of MIL STD 1629, MIL HDBK 217, or similar defense reliability standards.
This position requires a government security clearance; you must be a U.S. citizen for consideration. Clearance Level: Secret.

Part-time Remote Telework:
The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week.
