Fire Protection Engineer; Indian Head, Maryland

Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with a technical support center in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) to join our team on site at Naval Support Facility Indian Head, MD. As FPE, you conduct design reviews and provide expert oversight of fire protection systems construction, ensuring compliance with project specifications, codes, and industry standards. Your role will be in critical in maintaining the safety and integrity of construction projects.

Key responsibilities:

• Conduct design reviews for fire protection systems.
• Perform on-site inspections of:

o Sprayed Fire-Resistant Material

o Mastic and Intumescent Fire-Resistant Coatings

o Fire-Resistant Penetrations and Joints

o Smoke Control systems

• Collaborate with contractors, project teams, and inspectors to resolve technical or compliance issues.
• Prepare detailed reports documenting inspections, findings, and recommendations.
• Ensure all fire protection work complies with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
• Provide technical guidance and support to Associate Special Inspectors and project staff.

Qualifications to be successful in the role:

• Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Fire Protection or related discipline.
• Experience with fireproofing, fire-resistant coatings, firestop systems, and smoke control systems.
• Knowledge of ICC, UL, FM, and AABC certifications and standards.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work on-site in Indian Head, MD and manage multiple inspection tasks effectively.
