Quality Engineer I supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality systems within an aerospace manufacturing environment. This role ensures that products meet internal standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines. The individual works cross-functionally with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to support continuous improvement and maintain compliance with AS9100 and other aerospace quality standards.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:- Assist in maintaining and improving the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with AS9100/ISO 9001 standards.
- Participate in internal audits and support external audits by customers, regulatory bodies, and certification agencies.
- Support the development and revision of quality procedures, work instructions, and documentation.
- Perform first article inspections (FAI) in accordance with company and AS9102 requirements.
- Assist in reviewing and approving manufacturing plans, process documentation, and engineering drawings for quality requirements.
- Support production teams with day-to-day quality issues, including facilitating MRB meetings, conducting nonconformance analysis and completing/verifying corrective actions.
- Conduct inspections and tests on raw materials, in-process assemblies, and finished goods using precision measurement tools.
- Help maintain calibration of inspection equipment and ensure proper documentation.
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and problem-solving activities using tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, and 8D methodologies.
- Assist in evaluating supplier performance, reviewing supplier documentation, and processing supplier nonconformance reports.
- Collaborate with supply chain to ensure suppliers meet aerospace quality requirements.
- Contribute to process improvement projects aimed at reducing defects, improving yield, and increasing operational efficiency.
- Gather quality metrics and assist in preparing reports for management review.
- Must be able to view ITAR data without a license.

- Knowledge of GD&T required
- Basic understanding of quality principles and aerospace manufacturing processes (preferred).
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, or similar quality standards (preferred).
- Knowledge of inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMMs).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with MS Office required; experience with CAD or data analysis tools is a plus.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities
- 4-year degree in engineering discipline or equivalent
- Internship or co-op experience in aerospace, manufacturing, or quality engineering (preferred but not required)
- Combination of office and manufacturing floor environments.
- May involve standing for periods, working around machinery, and wearing required PPE.
- Some light lifting required.
