A Snapshot of Your Day
As Cooling Flow System and Clearance Design Engineer you will work in an international team of engineers on projects to develop service upgrades and new products and to provide support to our service organization. You will typically work together with project managers, component engineers and colleagues from production and service.
You will work independently on your individual tasks in joint coordination of priorities within a global team.
How You’ll Make an Impact- Application of in-house and commercial calculation software for:
- Creation of calculation models describing the cooling air supply of hot gas path components in a gas turbine and evaluation of the corresponding results
- Creation of calculation models describing the transient heating and thermal expansion of the entire gas turbine and determination of optimum assembly clearances between rotating and stationary components
- Evaluation of model results and derivation of design-relevant conclusions
- Collaboration in the conceptual development of the Secondary Air System and associated gas turbine components
- Evaluation of operational data and findings from prototypes and the existing fleet
- Successfully completed university studies in the field of mechanical engineering or comparable
- Work experience in the field of heat transfer and fluid mechanics and ideally with cooling air systems and the clearance design for gas turbines
- Good technical knowledge of mechanical engineering, heat transfer and fluid mechanics
- Proficient in using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge in the application of numerical software (e.g. Ansys, Abaqus, NX, StarCCM, etc) and of programming languages (Visual Basic, C++, C#, Fortran) is advantageous
- Intercultural working experience in global teams is advantageous
