Water/Wastewater Operations Specialist – East Region
Black & Veatch is seeking a Water/Wastewater Operations Specialist to support startup, commissioning and operational excellence for wastewater treatment facilities across the East Region. This full‑time, staff position requires travel up to 75% and a strong background in wastewater plant operations or commissioning.
Key Responsibilities- Provide startup, commissioning and troubleshooting services for conventional and advanced wastewater treatment, biosolids, groundwater and surface water systems.
- Prepare standard operating procedures, energy control procedures, job safety analysis and operation and maintenance manuals.
- Perform onsite training of operations staff and evaluate staffing, operating costs and system redundancy for reliable operations.
- At least 10 years of experience in wastewater operations or commissioning of wastewater plants.
- Plant startup and commissioning experience is a must.
- Technical writing skills and basic computer skills (Word, Excel, PDF, Visio) are a must.
- Water/Wastewater Operator License is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology or sciences preferred, or equivalent experience that makes the individual uniquely qualified.
- Minimum 5 years of related work experience.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Potential travel up to 75%.
- Hybrid work model offering three days in the office and two days remote for professionals within commuting distance of a Black & Veatch office.
