Distribution Business Class Lead
HDR Engineering is currently seeking a Distribution Business Class Lead to join our nationally ranked Power Delivery practice.
As a Distribution Business Class Lead in a well‑established Power Delivery practice, you'll draw upon your broad technical knowledge and experience in design and construction of electric overhead and underground distribution line projects to lead, guide, and advise clients, projects, and teams. Having previously performed a leading technical role on increasingly complex distribution line projects, you'll be ready to undertake greater challenges and responsibilities.
Duties also include building local teams and/or leveraging existing staff across the company to execute work and deliver world‑class services.
- Leveraging technical experience and expertise while working in close coordination with an PM to manage and execute the engineering and design components of distribution projects.
- Develop and implement a project execution plan for the technical aspect of distribution projects.
- Working independently and/or directing, mentoring, training, and supervising one or more Project Engineers, EITs, Designers, CADD technicians and administrative staff.
- Supporting the technical aspect of scope, schedule, and budget, including proposal development, work breakdown structure development and implementation, progress assessment, risk assessment/mitigation, change management, and schedule management.
- Coordinating and/or leading the QA/QC process on projects per HDR's Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements with a commitment to delivering world‑class quality.
- Performing quality checks and/or reviews of projects from other teams as needed.
- Participating in project reviews as needed.
- At times, leading multiple projects concurrently, utilizing teams in different locations.
- Working with senior engineers and technical leaders to identify and develop specific technical expertise and attending training and seminars focused on further development and understanding of complex concepts related to the electrical distribution industry.
- At times, assisting with development of technical papers and/or presentations that showcase HDR's technical capabilities at industry conferences or other events.
- PE License.
- Experience providing estimated costs and developing a BOM.
- Overhead and underground electrical design experience.
- Experience with electrical and planning analysis software (e.g., CYMCAP, ETAP, Polywater Pull Planner).
- Experience with design tools for pole loading analysis (PLS-CADD, O-calc, Spida Calc, Pole Foreman).
- Experience using CAD software packages for Electrical Distribution (PLS-CADD, Micro Station, AutoCAD, ArcGIS).
- Experience with New Business Designs for Residential, Commercial, and Industrial Projects.
- Experience with reliability, grid modernization, electrification and conversion projects.
- Experience with data center and renewables projects.
