The High Temperature Materials Engineer is a crucial position in Materials and Technology, part of a team developing complex technologies related to gas turbine efficiency and reliability, supporting our decarbonization strategy.

Do you enjoy working on new solutions that help others and providing the best support regarding materials for our products within Siemens Energy, especially for our large gas turbine products?
The primary focus of this position is the development of high-temperature Ni‑based superalloy cast materials used in our gas turbine products. This includes material selection and development to meet gas turbine efficiency and reliability targets. Within a network of materials engineers, you will support material development for high-performance alloys and play a decisive role in advancing our high-temperature material systems.

How You Will Make An Impact
  • Drive future materials strategies with expert knowledge in Ni‑based superalloys for new and advanced high-temperature material systems, supported by testing, modeling activities, and fleet experience.
  • Lead material development projects in global teams, from project initiation and feasibility studies to test planning and generation of property curves for gas turbine hot gas path design.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in gas turbine design and service engineering on materials-related topics to identify optimal solutions for our hot gas path components.
  • Support supplier qualification and definition of material specifications.
  • Define and manage project schedules, milestones, and budgets.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree (Master’s or PhD highly preferred) in Materials Science or Mechanical Engineering with a focus on Materials Engineering; 5+ years of industry experience or an equivalent combination of education/background.
  • Significant knowledge in the mechanical behavior of Ni‑based superalloys; deep understanding of materials science (e.g., alloy design, metallurgy, microstructural evolution, deformation mechanisms); understanding of gas turbine and steam turbine technology, including manufacturing and investment castings.
  • Experience in materials modeling (numerical simulation utilizing, for example, Thermo Calc), programming using Python, data analysis, or similar to predict and optimize materials properties is highly desirable.
  • Very good project management skills; experience in collaborating in multidisciplinary research networks/project consortia; strategic judgment and risk management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to successfully collaborate in a multicultural and cross‑organizational teams.
  • Fluent in English (verbal/written);
    German a plus!
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
