About the RoleJacobs is seeking a Sr VDC Coordinator to lead wireless telecommunications design for data center buildings. The role is on‑site at our Baton Rouge, LA location and involves collaborating with clients in the Data Center market. The position plays a role in the entire design process, including preliminary assessments, concept creation, design leadership, internal and external problem resolution, drawing and specification production, and customer/vendor accessibility.
Responsibilities- Design wireless systems in iBwave and EDX.
- Coordinate with BIM designers to create drawing packages.
- Coordinate with AHJ’s, Radio System Owners, and carriers.
- Create or modify DIV 27 specifications.
- Conduct site visits.
- Review technical documents.
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Technical or associate’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience actively designing wireless telecommunications systems, including LMR 2‑way radio (outdoor LMR, Site Radio, RoIP), Public Safety DAS, and Commercial DAS (OTA, Neutral Host, DRAN).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with iBwave, EDX, Atoll, LMR Planner or a combination thereof.
- Experience working with clients to identify wireless communications needs.
- Experience troubleshooting wireless communication system issues from field teams.
- Knowledge of Noise Floor, SNIR, Return Loss, and VSWR.
- Experience optimizing networks in design and during installation.
- Thorough knowledge of NFPA 72, NFPA 1221, and NFPA 1225.
- Thorough knowledge of IFC section 510.
- Thorough knowledge of Carrier KPIs.
- Knowledge of IBC.
- Knowledge of FCC part 20, part 90, and OET bulletin 65.
- Knowledge of MOTOTRBO systems, Motorola R56 installation standards, and DMR Tier III.
- Familiarity working with Navisworks.
- Self‑motivation to coordinate with other disciplines, project managers, and clients.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Familiarity with responding to RFPs.
- Experience creating and maintaining a project budget and schedule.
- Experience identifying and mitigating company risk.
- iBwave Level 2 Certification required.
- Experience designing Wi‑Fi systems.
- EDX or Motorola design certifications.
- FCC GROL.
- NICET Design Certification.
- Multiple OEM product certifications.
- Electrical Engineering or Communication Engineering degree.
- EIT or PE.
