You will be the System Safety Engineer (SSE) Sr for the Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control team. Our team is responsible for ensuring the safety of products developed and sold to customers, with a focus on protecting the warfighter.

What You Will Be Doing

As the System Safety Engineer (SSE) Sr, you will be responsible for performing hazard analyses and recommending safety features to mitigate or eliminate hazards in system design, software, training, and procedures. You will work independently to develop and implement system safety programs, with a focus on supporting the Advanced Programs Line of Business.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Developing hazard analyses and safety assessments
  • Analyzing and recommending safety criteria in system design and procedures
  • Preparing and delivering technical presentations and documentation
  • Coordinating and leading System Safety Working Group meetings
  • Reviewing specifications and design changes for adverse impacts to system safety
  • Participating in accident investigations and identifying corrective actions

This position can be filled in Orlando or Dallas. MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN – This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must have the ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in an engineering discipline
  • Experience developing and implementing a System Safety Program IAW MIL-STD-882
  • Developing and evaluating system safety requirements
  • Familiarity with implementing a Software Safety Program IAW AOP-52 and DoD guidelines
  • Working knowledge of MIL-STD-882 and its associated analyses
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to make formal presentations to large groups
  • Interacts well in a team atmosphere with engineers, suppliers, program managers and customers
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance
Desired skills
  • Experience supporting independent government Safety Review Boards
  • Knowledge of Human Factors Engineering
  • Familiarity with missile and launcher systems
  • Secret clearance with current 6-year background check
  • Model-based engineering knowledge
  • Experience with DOORS requirements application
  • Candidate should be a self-starter capable of performing tasks with little direction
  • Effective analytical problem solving skills, the ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy
  • Able to learn and work with System Safety specific software tools

Part‑time Remote Telework:
The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process. Work Schedule Information:
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five‑day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
