Position: Sr. Quality Engineer (WEEKEND SHIFT)

Description

You will be the Operations Quality Engineer for our Manufacturing Center team. Lockheed Martin is seeking a Quality Engineer Senior (QE) for a weekend shift position (Thursday–Sunday on, Monday–Wednesday off) based in Orlando, FL. Weekend shift differential is added in addition to base salary. The position requires engineering experience/knowledge developing and reviewing quality standards, methods, work instructions and procedures for the inspection of manufactured and procured products.

Our team is responsible for ensuring the quality of electrical, optical, and mechanical components in our manufacturing processes, from assembly to integration testing.

What You Will Be Doing

As the Operations Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for analyzing and improving our inspection and testing processes to guarantee high-quality products. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to identify and resolve process issues, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and analyzing inspection and testing processes, mechanisms, and equipment
  • Reviewing documentation related to internal and external manufacturing processes to ensure quality products
  • Analyzing quality data on yields, rework, scrap, and non‑conformance aging to support supplier IPTs and production sites
  • Leading corrective action meetings, identifying trends, and assisting in problem resolution
  • Participating in Material Review Boards and Failure Review Boards to disposition non‑conforming hardware and identify root causes
  • Performing assessments and audits to ensure compliance with specifications, engineering drawings, procedures, and ISO‑9001 / AS9100
  • Evaluating design assurance activities and production process methodology to prevent impacts to production velocity and quality
  • Interfacing with customers, suppliers, and program personnel on quality‑related issues
  • Utilizing lean initiatives to reduce waste and maintain continuous improvement
  • Making final decisions on product acceptability
Basic Qualifications
  • STEM degree at the Bachelor level or above
  • Must be able to obtain a Security clearance
  • Engineering or Quality experience developing methods, work instructions and procedures for the inspection of manufactured and procured products
  • Able to interpret drawings and specifications to develop and apply quality test and inspection methods and translate into work instructions and/or PO notes
  • Demonstrated ability to use causal analysis tools to analyze and resolve technical/process issues varying from basic to very complex
  • Experience in disposition of non‑conforming products
  • Knowledge Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance
  • Knowledge of Configuration and Data Management
  • Proficient skill level with Microsoft Office applications:
    Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Demonstrated presentation skills
Desired Skills
  • Lean / Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt / Black Belt)
  • ASQ Certification:
    Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA)
  • Experience with performing First Article Inspections to AS9102 requirements
  • Strong understanding of AS9100 and ISO
    9001 Quality Management Systems
  • Experience working with Government customers
  • Effective communication skills, i.e., written, oral, listening and technical writing
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including team building and collaboration

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance.

Security Clearance Statement:
This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration. Clearance Level: Secret.
