The Opportunity

As an Associate Electrical Engineer, you will support a variety of substation projects up to 765kV in detailed design and EPC. Your responsibilities include:

  • Develop protection and control design deliverables such as protective relays, panel arrangements, single‑line and three‑line diagrams, schematics, and wiring.
  • Create physical design deliverables including yard layout, grounding, lightning protection, control building arrangements, and auxiliary power systems.
  • Prepare equipment specifications and Bills of Materials for procurement and construction.
  • Correspond with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Travel to client and vendor offices or project sites for design reviews, construction coordination, and field verification.
  • Adhere to design budgets and schedules and perform QA/QC responsibilities.
  • Provide support to business development or pursuit activities.

This role is located in Orlando, FL. Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion, job performance, and work assignments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform substation designs, including physical design and protection & controls, focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Learn and remain current on departmental design guides, standards, systems, engineering codes, and B&V policies.
  • Apply knowledge independently and comply with the B&V quality program.
  • Prepare complex engineering deliverables, conduct research, and develop equipment/material recommendations.
  • Manage engineering data and calculations following standard methods and principles.
  • Assist in budget, schedule, and quality management; recognize and resolve problems; provide guidance to others.
  • Assign and guide entry‑level professionals and interns, coordinating with project leadership.
  • Interact with internal and external clients, understanding their needs and drivers.
  • Share current knowledge of latest technology and processes.
  • Mentor and train entry‑level professionals and interns; assist in performance management and recognition.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High voltage substation design experience – Physical and/or Protection & Controls.
  • Engineering‑in‑Training (EIT) certification.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office Programs.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program.
  • Minimum of 1 year related work experience.
  • Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background checks, drug screen, etc.).
