As a Bridge Engineer, you will serve as the primary manager responsible for all bridges and structural assets along the Orlando Extension corridor, the Miami Viaduct, and station walkways. Your scope will include oversight of bridges, culverts, tunnels, and drainage facilities, ensuring their ongoing maintenance and compliance through regular inspections.
You will be responsible for administering the Bridge Management Program (BMP), completing inspections, and conducting field and classroom training in relation to bridges and structures.

Responsibilities- Program Administration & Compliance
- Administer Brightline’s Bridge Management Program (BMP), ensuring compliance with all regulatory and safety standards.
- Perform all FRA bridge and structures-related inspections, coordinating with third parties as needed for safe execution.
- Assist in managing Track Asset, Track Inventory, and other related Track Management Programs.
- Mentor and train employees on Brightline Standards and Procedures, FRA Rules and Regulations, and best practices for bridge and structural work.
- Support the development of Standards and Procedures for the Brightline Engineering Department.
- Technology & Innovation
- Identify and implement new technologies across the rail corridor to enhance safety, reduce costs, and improve on-time performance.
- Maintenance & Oversight
- Oversee all bridge and structure maintenance activities across the Orlando Extension (OX) corridor and Miami Viaduct.
- Supervise third-party activities on or adjacent to the Right-of-Way (ROW) that may impact Brightline operations.
- Collaborate with new and existing vendors on system improvements and implementation.
- Emergency & Project Support
- Provide 24/7 emergency response support to the Brightline Maintenance team.
- Support other engineering projects as assigned.
Direct supervisory responsibility including the ability to hire, transfer, suspend, layoff, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward or discipline or effectively recommend such actions.
Qualifications- Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in bridge and structural engineering and maintenance, preferably in high speed rail environment (Class 6 and above).
- Experience with Bridge Management Programs.
- Familiarity with FRA regulations and bridge inspection standards.
- In-depth understanding of bridge design, inspection, and maintenance practices.
- Familiarity with structural analysis software and asset management tools.
- Understanding of drainage systems, culverts, and tunnel structures in a rail environment.
- Ability to read strip charts from ATGMS and TGMS data.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in preparing technical reports and documentation.
- Ability to mentor and train staff on engineering standards and safety procedures.
- Skilled in vendor coordination and third-party oversight.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure, including emergency response.
- Ability to collaborate in a positive and effective manner with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and presentation skills; including the ability to provide written and verbal direction effectively.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and consistently delivers high-quality, detail-oriented work with diligence and care.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. This position is very active and the employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl all day. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds.

Frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. Occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions in the plant. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
