Automotive Design & Release Engineer

Revology Cars is hiring an Automotive Design & Release Engineer to develop vehicle components and manage product revisions from concept through production. This role works with suppliers and internal teams to ensure components meet cost, quality, performance, and manufacturing requirements.

• Manage the design and development of new vehicle components and revisions to existing products from concept through production
• Take ownership of the cost, quality, and performance of purchased and build-to-print vehicle components
• Select materials and manufacturing processes, evaluate suppliers, and consider packaging and appearance requirements
• Assess assembly feasibility, serviceability, variable costs, tooling costs, and development costs
• Define expected performance requirements and plan and execute testing to validate component and system fit and function
• Design parts and assemblies in CATIA V5, applying appropriate specifications, dimensions, and GD&T
• Manage and document multiple projects, and present research findings and technical documentation clearly
• Communicate and coordinate with production teams on process changes, part changes, fixtures, tools, and schedules
• Apply knowledge of materials and processes relevant to low-volume production and prototyping
• Work directly with suppliers to ensure component quality and compliance with specifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited school
• Three to five years of experience with an automotive OEM, Tier 1 supplier, or Tier 2 supplier; other relevant automotive experience, including military or non-OEM work, may be considered
• Experience designing automotive mechanical components with consideration for DFA, DFM, DFMEA, and serviceability
• Ability to design parts and assemblies in CATIA V5
• Familiarity with prototyping materials and manufacturing processes for plastic and metal components
• Experience working directly with suppliers, in-house manufacturing, purchasing, quality engineering, and manufacturing engineering
• Hands-on expertise in a particular vehicle system and basic knowledge of automotive systems overall
• Understanding of manufacturing accuracy and repeatability
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and Smartsheet
• Comfort using automotive and general-purpose hand and power tools, including drills and grinders
• Ability to work on-site in office, automotive shop, and manufacturing environments, and to follow applicable safety standards
• Willingness to work overtime when required; weekend work is rare but may be required
