- Completing a comprehensive assessment of clients’ substance abuse history and treatment requirements, and preparing individualized, developmentally appropriate treatment plans.
- Providing individual and group counseling, and educational programs in accordance with the treatment plan.
- Documenting treatment and discharge plans, monitoring clients’ progress and responses to treatments, and maintaining related records and charts.
- Performing case management and contributing to client care monitoring.
- Managing a caseload that typically includes some complex cases requiring more intensive services.
- CAP, MCAP, LCSW, LMFT, or LMHC credentialing preferred.
- Current certification or qualification as an alcohol, drug, or substance abuse counselor as required by state law.
- Masters or Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, mental health counseling, or substance abuse counseling preferred.
- Ability to perform assessment, treatment planning, and counseling, and provide intensive services for some complex cases with minimal supervision, normally acquired through at least two years prior experience in the substance abuse field.
- Ability to walk and move about the facilities for up to two hours at a time to monitor and interact with clients.
- Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Ability to record, proofread, and check documents and files for accuracy, prepare and analyze data, transcribe, and read.
- Ability to use a keyboard and video display terminal to receive, retrieve, and audit information and data.
- Ability to respond to telephones and to hear and detect alarms and unusual noises.
