Clinical Staff Pharmacist

Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital is a new 124‑bed comprehensive acute care facility serving Seminole County for 40 years with plans to expand to 240 beds. It offers cardiovascular, general surgery, orthopedics, women’s services with labor and delivery, future NICU, operating rooms, catheterization labs, interventional radiology, vascular lab, ICU, and a full‑service emergency department.

Position Summary:

This variable full‑time (37 hours per week) role requires a pharmacist licensed in Florida; the schedule is 7 days on/7 days off. The pharmacist will perform basic pharmacy procedures in accordance with scientific principles and Orlando Health policies and may also provide clinical services such as pharmacotherapy, pharmacokinetics consultations, and multidisciplinary rounds.

• Demonstrates an understanding of safety, emergency and risk management procedures.
• Demonstrates an understanding of the hospital mission, personnel policies, philosophy, goals and objectives of Pharmacy and Orlando Health.
• Demonstrates familiarity with the general duties of the Pharmacy department.
• Identifies and utilizes resource persons and departments for customer service and patient care.
• Operates the equipment required for pharmacy procedures consistent with operating instructions, safety regulations and policy and procedures.
• Dispenses medications and intravenous fluids using the medication dispensing system according to scientific principles and Orlando Health policy and procedures.
• Documents on appropriate forms and in systems consistent with guidelines, defined standards of care and practice, and the quality improvements program.
• Demonstrates an understanding of the various computer systems or applications in operation in the department and at Orlando Health.
• Develops competency in all aspects of health‑system pharmacy practice including pharmacotherapy, patient care, distributive services, drug information and practice management.
• Plans, organizes, executes and monitors pharmaceutical care plans.
• Performs pharmacotherapy, pharmacokinetics consultations and other clinical responsibilities as applicable at the site of practice (e.g., TPN initiation and monitoring).
• Evaluates and addresses appropriate alerts identified by CHR (e.g., IV to PO, renal dosing protocols).
• Reports and investigates adverse drug reactions, medication errors and documents accordingly.
• Participates in multidisciplinary rounds when applicable at the site of practice.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

• Education/Training: Pharmacy degree (Bachelor of Science or Pharm
  
  D) required.
• Licensure/Certification: Must be licensed by the Florida Board of Pharmacy, renewed every two years.
• Experience: Hospital experience is preferred.
