- Set up new client accounts and research studies in laboratory computer systems.
- Maintain all current accounts active and close inactive accounts.
- Obtain client account applications and complete credit checks before establishing new accounts.
- Verify client guarantor information.
- Develop working relationships with clients and establish new clients billing protocols.
- Maintain records and file reports of client accounts.
- Document activities and keep account notes up to date.
- Review monthly billing statements and send to clients.
- Communicate and provide education on client registration procedures to laboratory team regularly.
- Monitor daily registrations and perform updates to registrations as necessary.
- Understand all governmental payers and HCFA guidelines.
- Review daily edit reports, investigate, and resolve issues.
- Monitor daily posting activities and perform reconciliation.
- Review charging activities for accuracy and completeness.
- Monitor client account activity and status in Laboratory Information system.
- Monitor client monthly usage and identify trends; report to Lab Manager.
- Respond timely to all customer questions regarding accounts.
- Investigate all issues and follow up as necessary.
- Participate in process improvement activities.
- Maintain statistical information as assigned.
- Exemplify Orlando Health policy, procedures, value statements, and Commitment to Excellence and Code of Conduct standards.
- Maintain reasonable attendance and adhere to Orlando Health policies.
Regularly interact with the hospital financial services department and attend patient financial service department mentor meetings. Perform additional clerical duties such as letters to clients, physicians, memorandums, policies/procedures, forms, and spreadsheets.
Qualifications- Associate degree in business or related field; or high school diploma with five (5) years experience; or associate's degree with one (1) year experience in related field.
- Maintain current knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-9, HCPCS and billing claims forms.
- Computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet knowledge.
- No licensure or certification required.
