Position Summary
The Environmental Services Technician II (EVS Technician II) at Orlando Health Melbourne Hospital is responsible for executing daily duties that establish and maintain a safe, clean, healing environment. The role involves cleaning, disinfecting patient rooms and ancillary areas to support patient throughput while adhering to environmental hygiene and infection prevention principles.

- Respond to customer inquiries or complaints using appropriate engagement techniques
- Clean and disinfect patient rooms and ancillary areas (bathrooms, corridors, medication storage, etc.) using designated chemicals and procedures
- Replenish supplies, remove bio‑medical waste, trash, and soiled linen as required, and maintain cleanliness standards for patient turnover
- Use department technology systems such as Bed Management systems for room turnaround and reporting
- Operate UV disinfection machines when required by policy
- Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives to enhance customer experience and cleanliness metrics
- Adhere to infection prevention practices, hand hygiene, isolation precautions, and proper PPE donning/doffing
- Recognize and adhere to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA)
- Assist onboarding of new EVS technicians and report unsafe situations or engineering service requests
- Maintain compliance with Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
- Perform other tasks as assigned by EVS leadership, including setup/dismantle beds for cleaning according to department procedures
- Education/Training: High School Diploma or GED (preferred)
- Licensure/Certification: Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) preferred
- Experience: Three (3) or more years in healthcare support services, environmental services, hospitality, or related field
