Position Summary

Transporter I – Day Shift – Wiregrass Ranch Hospital, Wesley Chapel, Florida – Orlando Health.

Location: Wesley Chapel, Florida.

Shift: Days.

Department: Patient Transport Services.

Orlando Health’s Wiregrass Ranch Hospital is a 380,000‑sq‑ft, state‑of‑the‑art, multi‑specialty hospital open to serve the fastest‑growing communities in West Florida. The facility has 102 beds (expandable to 300) and 9 advanced operating rooms, including a hybrid OR with real‑time imaging.

• Provide safe and efficient transport of patients to all areas of the hospital.
• Assess patient to determine most effective method for transport.
• Communicate vital patient information with the department manager, group leads, and other appropriate team members.
• Maintain all transportation equipment and assure its cleanliness and sanitary condition.
• Log into and manipulate the Epic Transportation Dispatching system efficiently.
• Demonstrate outstanding customer service behavior and attitude supporting Orlando Health’s mission, vision, and values.
• Assist in informing customers, nursing units, and diagnostic departments of delays.
• Proactively seek prevention of fire and safety hazards by storing equipment in designated areas.
• Adjust the liter flow and determine cylinder volume in an oxygen tank and understand the tank gauge.
• Safely remove a telemetry unit from a patient.
• Perform independent double verification using two acceptable identifiers and scans patient wristband.
• Follow hospital and departmental policies with special attention to safety, dress, attendance, punctuality, and display of .
• Handle work‑related information in a confidential manner using HIPAA and handoff compliance.
• Cooperate effectively and efficiently with team members to consistently meet the changing needs of the patient, department, and/or hospital.
• Assist with proper disposition of all deceased persons to the morgue or body cooler as outlined at individual campuses.
• Assist in the distribution and retrieval of clinical equipment throughout the facility.
• Assist in cleaning equipment and restocks standby storage areas or returns it to the equipment room.
• Assist in the distribution, retrieval, and maintenance of durable medical equipment outlined at individual campuses.
• Transport medications (excluding controlled substances and IV chemotherapy drugs) throughout the facility.
• Additional duties or responsibilities that may be required occasionally or as needed to support the operation of the department.

• Six (6) months of customer service experience or six months of volunteer experience preferred.
• BLS/Health Care Provider certification obtained within 90 days of hire and renewed every two years.
• Must be capable of accessing and using all department related computer systems such as Epic Bed Tracking and Service Response programs, Outlook and email.
• Must be able to complete required mandatory educational training.
• Ability to read and recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers.
• Ability to write simple correspondence and respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers.
