This technician operates x-ray equipment in support of the provision of diagnostic and/or therapeutic services to a specified patient population.
Job Description- Arrange patients for radiological exams
- Perform diagnostic radiological exams for use in diagnosis of disease
- Prevent patients from unnecessary radiation exposure
- Perform portable X-ray exams (C-Arm/Fluoroscopy)
- Perform administrative duties as needed for patient instructions, film‑filing, and maintenance of records
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Graduate of approved Radiologic Technical program
- BXMO license for X‑ray technicians
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
- Licensed/registered with the appropriate state agency
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification
- Experience with C‑Arm/Fluoroscopy
Skills and Abilities
- Follow principles of medical ethics for medical assistance
- Prepare patients for radiological procedures and follow established procedures for patient care and safety
- Assist patients as needed or directed by supervisory staff
- Perform medical assistant and radiological procedures
- Assist providers with patients, including preparing patients and the examination rooms; take initial medical history for the chart, take vital signs, and explain the process to the patients
- Assist provider in all special procedures, including minor surgery, as required
- Perform X-rays as directed by the provider
- Give instructions to patients as instructed by provider
- Assist with any procedures that have been taught through formal training or by physician
- Keep medical records in accordance to procedures and forms
- Follow HIPAA guidelines for patient confidentiality
- Keep rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, wash and dry instruments used, and prepare sterilization as required
- Clean wounds, draw labs, perform electrocardiograms and apply dressings and splints as directed by provider
- Assist in lab procedures under the supervision of provider and for which training has been given; notify patients of lab results, give vaccines, immunizations and medications as prescribed by the doctor; perform lab work such as throat cultures, hematocrits and urinalysis
- Receive and handle phone calls
- Responsible for proper handling and storage of all medications stored in the office
- Knowledge of the physical and operational characteristics of radiologic equipment
- Knowledge of X‑ray principles, procedures and standards
- Knowledge of sterile procedures
- Knowledge of appropriate X‑ray exposure times and safety parameters
- Knowledge of photographic development techniques
- Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development across life span and assess patient age‑specific needs to provide appropriate care per Center’s policies and procedures
- Be able to read and communicate effectively in English; additional languages preferred
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide age‑appropriate care to patients served in the Center
- Calibrate, configure, and adjust X‑ray equipment and associated facilities and devices per procedures and standards
- Understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
- Safely lift and physically manipulate patients
- Make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments
- Maintain good interpersonal relationships with patients, coworkers, and other health team members
Our ASC is located in Orlando, Florida. Work hours may be subject to change, depending on the surgery schedule.
Hazards:
Occasional contact with communicable diseases, electrical equipment, blood‑borne pathogens, etc.
Personal protective equipment:
Provided if necessary (gowns, gloves, masks, head cover).
