Job Description

  • The Phlebotomist III – Floater represents the face of the organization to patients as part of their routine healthcare or diagnostic needs.
  • This role is responsible for collecting quality blood samples and preparing specimens for laboratory testing while following established practices and procedures.
  • The Phlebotomist III – Floater interacts directly with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence by explaining procedures and performing blood draws in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner.
  • The role demonstrates leadership behaviors while focusing on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information.
  • Assignments may include a doctor’s office, patient service center, or multiple locations based on business needs.
Requirement / Must Have
  • Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime based on staffing needs.
  • Commitment to policies and procedures related to professional conduct, safety, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license, if applicable.
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours across multiple locations with minimal notice.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
  • Strong customer focus with clear, open, and professional communication skills.
Experience
  • Three to five years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a patient service center environment preferred.
  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
  • Keyboarding and data entry experience.
Responsibilities
  • Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of a supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe and professional work environment.
  • Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties following established procedures.
  • Verify patient identification and specimen labeling in the patient’s presence.
  • Maintain required records and documentation.
  • Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image with patients, clients, employees, and the public.
Qualification and Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred.
