The Pharmacy Technician assists with operational and all distribution responsibilities as they are related to Pharmacy Technician functions including Orlando Health software and hardware systems.

• Demonstrates an understanding of safety, emergency, and risk management procedures.
• Demonstrates an understanding of the hospital mission, personnel policies, philosophy, goals, customer service, and objectives of the Pharmacy and Orlando Health.
• Demonstrates familiarity with the general duties and processes of the Pharmacy department.
• Identifies and utilizes resources and departments for customer service and patient care, based upon need, availability, and responsibility of resources.
• Operates the equipment required for pharmacy procedures, following safety regulations and policies.
• Performs basic Pharmacy Technician procedures consistent with scientific principles, policy, and procedures.
• Performs basic buyer procedures including drug procurement.
• Assists the Pharmacist with medication distribution, including proper aseptic techniques for admixture of various types of medication (e.g., chemotherapy) and functioning with automated dispensing cabinets.
• Maintains USP 797 standards and other regulatory required documentation.
• Maintains safe handling and proper disposal requirements.
• Completes special projects as assigned.
• Participates in training new pharmacy technicians.
• Maintains advanced expertise in and covers technician services in a specialized practice area (e.g., medication history acquisition) as needed.
• Maintains punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, ADA, FMLA, and other federal/state/local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

• Education/Training:
  High school diploma or equivalent.
• Licensure/Certification:
  Current Pharmacy Technician registration with the Florida State Board of Pharmacy.
• Experience:
  
  Greater than one year up to four (4) years of experience as a pharmacy technician; hospital experience preferred.
