Overview
The Sr. Data Quality Analyst role at Darden involves the implementation and support of business rules within the data quality framework. This role participates in the full data quality lifecycle from requirement elicitation through ongoing support and develops technical components that meet business/functional requirements or respond to logged data incidents. The position helps define our data quality program, including policy, process, standards, and tools, and requires an ability to understand data semantics, business use, and relationships.
Responsibilities- Translate business concerns into technical requirements/specifications.
- Elicit requirements from business users as well as Data Incident Management and ensure data issues detected in the past are not repeated.
- Develop technical specifications that demonstrate how data quality will be preserved/enforced. Maintain as-built documentation for the current as-built rules register.
- Build quality rules code base to monitor data flows and ensure acceptable levels of trust.
- Participate in Data Profiling POC evaluating product capabilities and make recommendations.
- Oversee the execution of data profiling for ingestion quality and to understand data shift over time; adjust profiling processes to meet business objectives.
- Analyze profiling and rule results to ensure business requirements are met; fine-tune configurations and rules to optimize results and performance; make design/process recommendations as needed.
- Triage data anomalies to determine root cause; participate in solutioning sessions to resolve anomalies and address data purity issues.
- Work with the BA team to generate data to power quality dashboards for data providers and data consumers to monitor data quality.
- Contribute to business/technical definitions of data objects within the data catalog.
- Assist in the creation and maintenance of Data Lineage documentation.
- Serve as an SME for multiple data domains; assist business users in the selection, understanding and use of data.
- Perform UAT on data sets as part of data ingestion, egress, transformation and rule execution.
- Ensure solutions and configurations are thoroughly unit-tested prior to delivery; participate in system/integration testing as appropriate; perform QA steps as requested.
- Adhere to Darden SDLC, coding and data standards.
- Proactively identify data issues or process issues impacting data.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders; ensure issues are analyzed, discussed, and resolved in a timely manner.
- Continuously enhance skills and knowledge by researching techniques, technologies, and software products.
- Provide thorough Data Quality Tool administration to ensure the platform is properly managed.
- Strong understanding of data structures, data types, and data transformation.
- Ability to perform complex data mappings, workflows and sessions.
- Experience with SQL and data transformation/analytics tools such as Informatica, Talend, or Alteryx.
- Expertise in reading, analyzing and debugging SQL.
- Ability to troubleshoot data processing performance issues.
- Experience or willingness to learn data profiling/quality tools such as Collibra, Ataccama, Informatica or OEDQ.
- Experience or willingness to learn Spark
SQL and Databricks. - Strong analytical, problem solving and debugging skills with the ability to understand business processes and triage quality issues.
- Work across the SDLC from development through production support.
- Experience with spreadsheets; strong understanding of financial concepts and data.
- Ability to work independently, take ownership of tasks, and follow through to implementation/resolution.
- Collaborate with technical and functional personnel to resolve end-user data problems.
- Demonstrated competency in developing and testing complex rule sets.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to express complex technical concepts in business terms.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; solid analytical, problem-solving and conceptual abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in IT-related discipline or equivalent experience (BS/BA in MIS, Computer Science, Business, Mathematics, or Engineering)
