Server Engineer (Cisco UCS & VMware vSphere)

Optomi, in partnership with one of our premier clients, is seeking a Server Engineer with deep hands‑on experience in Cisco UCS infrastructure and VMware vSphere. This role is responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise server environments — ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability across mission‑critical systems. The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with proactive documentation and cross‑training practices to strengthen team knowledge and operational continuity.

• 5+ years of professional experience in server engineering or systems administration.
• Proven hands‑on expertise with Cisco UCS, including Intersight Manager.
• Strong experience with VMware vSphere 8+, vCenter, ESXi, and vSAN.
• Experience with automation/scripting (Python, Power Shell, or Ansible).
• Exposure to hybrid cloud environments or infrastructure monitoring tools.
• Ability to lead technical assessments, write detailed as‑builts, and deliver internal training.

• Configure and manage Fabric Interconnects, X‑Series servers, VLANs, and Intersight Virtual Appliance.
• Deploy, manage, and maintain vSphere 8+ environments (vCenter, ESXi, vSAN, VDS/VSS).
• Perform upgrades, patching, and performance tuning across virtualized infrastructure.
• Create and maintain detailed as‑built documentation; conduct cross‑training and knowledge transfer sessions for internal teams.
• Lead regular reviews of UCS and VMware environments to identify configuration or performance improvements.
• Partner with networking, storage, and application teams; provide Tier 3 support for escalated issues and assist in DR and capacity planning efforts.
