Job Overview
Leidos is inviting applications for a Systems Engineer – SME in the National Security Sector's Cyber & Analytics Business Area (CABA). The role focuses on monitoring operations, evaluating metrics, and ensuring IT infrastructure services meet Service Level Agreements (SLA). The engineer will conduct risk assessments and vendor trade studies, maintain continuity of operations, and support disaster recovery initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities- Serve as the primary technical authority for Linux-based infrastructure, providing expert guidance on architecture, configuration, and optimization across enterprise environments.
- Lead root cause analysis and resolution of complex OS, kernel, and performance issues.
- Install, configure, administer, support, and maintain systems, including associated hardware and cloud resources.
- Design, implement, and maintain high‑availability Linux systems (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) supporting mission‑critical applications with 99.99% uptime.
- Maintain enterprise Linux server infrastructure for proper configuration, availability, performance, capacity, and maintenance, including patching and upgrades.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to integrate Linux systems with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid infrastructure.
- Develop and enforce system hardening standards aligned with DISA STIGs, CIS benchmarks, and organizational security policies.
- Monitor technology obsolescence, manage upgrades, and evaluate alternatives across on‑premises and cloud IT infrastructures, both virtual and physical.
- Must be a US citizen with an active TS/SCI clearance and a polygraph.
- Expertise in supporting assignments requiring originality and innovation to accomplish tasks.
- Experience developing methodologies and presenting solutions to complex problems.
- Proven track record of contributing to deliverables and meeting performance metrics.
- Expertise with Active Directory, Windows servers, and virtualization technologies.
- Availability for on‑call support.
- Must hold a Master’s degree with 15+ years of relevant experience or a Doctorate with 13+ years of relevant experience.
