Senior Clinical Engineer Tech – Orlando Health

Position Summary

Full-Time

Shift: Monday - Friday, 6:30am daily start time

On call required

Location:

NEW Wiregrass Ranch location, Wesley Chapel, FL

This role will not start until early February.

Responsibilities
  • Provide daily operations support and maintenance activities for identified equipment inventory.
  • Ensure diagnostic/therapeutic or electronics equipment meets manufacturer’s specifications for safe and proper use through routine safety inspections, scheduled maintenance, calibrations, repairs, updates.
  • Provide troubleshooting and repair solutions to equipment hardware and software issues.
  • Monitor, ticket, notify, analyze, track, and resolve problems.
  • Perform pre‑procurement evaluations and support assessments on new devices, systems and technologies.
  • Utilize service literature and resources for repairs, preventive maintenance, software/hardware upgrades, and support needs per regulatory agencies and device manufacturers.
  • Monitor rental and non‑hospital owned devices for compliance with corporate safety policies.
  • Assist the Clinical Engineering/IT Operations team in supporting and maintaining mission‑critical medical/electronic equipment and IT systems and networks.
  • Analyze, resolve and document issues associated with medical or electronic devices/systems hardware and software.
  • Install and configure hardware and software components; perform tests on new hardware and software.
  • Complete all repairs, preventive maintenance and other supporting activity documentation to comply with FDA, The Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies.
  • Communicate repair status to appropriate department personnel and escalate delay issues to the clinical engineering supervisor as needed.
  • Receive advanced training on maintenance of medical or electronic equipment/systems, including hardware mainframes, databases, networks and other computerized systems.
  • Assist with integrating supported medical/electronic devices and systems into hospital IT systems and networks.
  • Maintain relationships with all organizational departments including IT units to ensure Clinical Engineering services meet end‑user productivity goals.
  • Provide user training to device/system owners and document deficiencies for safety committees.
  • Support medical or electronic device/system infrastructure across departments such as Information Technology, Engineering, Clinical, Regulatory, etc.
  • Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures, ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
Other Related Functions
  • Perform incoming inspections on new equipment as assigned.
  • Practice efficient use of supplies and report inventory deficiencies to supervisor.
  • Organize work priorities independently without supervisory oversight.
  • Provide excellent customer service with good communication and follow‑up skills.
  • Cross‑train on clinical or electronic equipment and test instrumentation to other technicians.
  • Participate in or act as lead in projects as assigned.
  • Maintain and train others about HIPAA compliance.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area.
  • Coordinate vendors, contractors and other outside entities related to repairs, preventive maintenance, training, projects, upgrades, etc.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of legal issues, The Joint Commission requirements and compliance along with standards of other regulatory and accrediting agencies.
  • Serve periods of on‑call coverage at scheduled intervals independently.
  • Support unplanned events during after‑hours and weekends when required.
Qualifications

Education/Training

Associate’s degree in a technical area of study required. High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of directly related work experience may substitute for the Associate’s degree (in addition to the requirements listed in the Experience section).

Licensure/Certification

None.

Experience

Four (4) years of directly related work experience in repair/support of medical equipment/electronic/computerized systems.
