Cyber Operations Specialist

Leidos is seeking a Cyber Operations Specialist to collaborate closely with both the Cybersecurity Team and the Security Operations Center (SOC). This role supports risk management activities related to the processing, storing, or transmitting of information to reduce or eliminate impacts to confidentiality, integrity, or availability of information and information systems.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure appropriate operational security posture is maintained.
  • Conduct scheduled weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual Continuous Monitoring and auditing tasks and report them.
  • Configure, implement, troubleshoot, and maintain all security platforms and associated software, such as firewalls, switches, routers, and enterprise devices.
  • Administer, configure, and maintain the Tenable Security Center.
  • Review ACAS results and remediate appropriately.
  • Ensure software, hardware, and firmware comply with appropriate security configuration guidelines (e.g., STIG/SRG).
  • Prepare and maintain security documentation, including SSPs, Security Assessment Reports, and Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms).
  • Assist the SOC team by reviewing alerts, triaging events, and escalating incidents.
  • Support patch verification and vulnerability remediation efforts in coordination with system owners and the SOC.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience, or a Master’s degree. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain at least a Secret clearance.
  • Must possess current DOD 8140 certification or obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Strong foundation in networking, common ports and protocols, and traffic flow. Knowledge of the OSI model, defense-in-depth security principles, and common security elements for effective threat detection, analysis, and mitigation.
  • Committed to continuous learning and self‑improvement in the cybersecurity domain, demonstrated by ongoing pursuit of certifications, active participation in industry forums, and dedication to staying ahead of emerging threats and technologies.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills, including the ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams to address complex security challenges in real‑world scenarios. Includes clear communication of technical information, building consensus, and driving solutions to completion.
  • Reliable and flexible, with a demonstrated willingness to work assigned shifts to support operational requirements and team objectives.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active Secret clearance or higher.
  • Experience performing vulnerability scans with ACAS or similar tools.
  • Applying STIG/SRG to Windows/Linux operating systems.
  • RMF/ATO compliance experience.
