Job Description & How to Apply Below

We are a high-performing criminal defense firm seeking a full-time Associate Attorney to join our Orlando-based team with regular travel to the Florida Keys. This role is ideal for a motivated lawyer who wants hands‑on courtroom experience, a supportive work culture, and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on clients’ lives. The Associate Attorney will handle a mix of misdemeanor and felony cases from intake through resolution, including negotiations, motions practice, and courtroom advocacy.

You’ll receive mentorship, clear systems, and the resources you need to succeed — while contributing to a firm known for its professionalism, compassion, and exceptional client service. This position is Orlando-based but requires periodic appearances in Monroe County (Key West, Marathon, Plantation Key). All travel expenses are covered. If you are looking for a place where your work matters, where clients are treated with dignity and respect, and where you can build a long‑term legal career, we’d love to talk.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a full caseload of misdemeanor and felony matters from initial appearance through final resolution, ensuring consistent progress without requiring micromanagement
  • Conduct regular court appearances in Monroe County (Key West, Marathon, Plantation Key) and coordinate travel efficiently
  • Handle all aspects of motion practice, including drafting, filing, and arguing substantive and procedural motions
  • Prepare and conduct depositions, witness interviews, and evidence review with strong attention to detail
  • Lead plea negotiations with prosecutors and advise clients on case strategy, risks, and outcomes with clarity and empathy
  • Maintain proactive communication with clients, keeping them informed and supported throughout the legal process
  • Review and analyze discovery promptly, flag key issues, and coordinate with the team for follow‑up investigative steps
  • Work within established firm systems and help improve workflows that create a more self‑managed, efficient practice
  • Collaborate with the firm owner on case strategy, trial preparation, and long‑term improvements in operations
  • Participate in occasional marketing or community‑facing activities that enhance the firm’s visibility and reputation
  • Uphold the firm’s values of dignity, respect, professionalism, and exceptional client service in every interaction

  • Has a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
  • Prepared to learn from senior attorneys to meet our client needs and grow our client base
  • Candidates must have passed the bar exam
  • Member in good standing and actively involved with the ABA (American Bar Association)
  • Solid communication skills and problem‑solving skills required to work with clients, staff members and senior attorneys
