Job DescriptionThe position will be responsible for providing site safety leadership, ensuring facility compliance with the company’s safety standards, implementing safety directives, improving safety performance, and aligning facility safety policies and procedures with governmental regulations. This role also leads Environmental efforts and oversees Occupational Health and Safety.
Job Duties- Incident/Exposure Reporting and Investigation – manage and implement the Incident/Exposure Reporting and Investigation program, ensuring methods and practices are in place for reporting and investigating incidents.
- Worker’s Compensation Claim Management – in partnership with Human Resources, review, monitor, and manage the claims process; manage early return-to-work and modified duty programs; analyze accident and injury trends to identify training needs and incident prevention priorities.
- Emergency Action Plan – coordinate with facilities and engineering to keep the company’s EAP current, implemented, and ensure personnel are trained for activation.
- Licensing and Training – ensure forklift drivers, machine operators, sanitation workers, mechanics, and DOT drivers are licensed, trained, and compliant.
- Personal Protective Equipment & Safety Practices – maintain PPE, machine safety & equipment usage, lockout/tagout, hazardous communication, and related training for employees.
- Record Keeping – maintain all required documentation and posting requirements per mandated record‑retention regulations.
- Meetings – coordinate monthly meetings and conduct weekly/monthly/quarterly inspections of plant facilities, reporting concerns to management.
- Human Resources Collaboration – work with HR to conduct monthly employee committee meetings.
- 7+ years of progressive safety experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Thorough knowledge of applicable regulations (OSHA)
- Creativity, innovation, and problem‑solving skills to generate viable solutions
- Good time‑management skills; ability to prioritize duties
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required
