Job Description

Job Summary

Injection Mold Machine Operator is responsible for the packaging and movement of finished product, computer-based data entry, ticket generation, and proper product staging. This role requires safe machine operation, an understanding of good manufacturing practices, problem recognition and correction, and troubleshooting of the Injection Molding process.

Production Lead

Specific Responsibilities / Essential Functions
  • Ensure finished product from machines is packaged for shipment according to customer specifications and internal requirements, including internal GMPs/guidelines.
  • Maintain proper fill height, lidding/shipping/storage, labeling (including part numbers, weights, times), and preparation of empty boxes, tare weights, staging of boxes and lids.
  • Package and prepare product for export shipments.
  • Demonstrate the ability to start all types of injection presses from a “cold” start state and explain machine function and process parameters on current plant equipment.
  • Set machine conditions to achieve established production standards for optimum cycle with quality preserved.
  • Complete daily clean-up and maintain good housekeeping in the area.
  • Take corrective action and notify Lead, Quality, and Shift Technician when a quality problem is detected.
  • Understand dryer, chiller, mold components and processes, and preform dimension locations and measurements.
  • Assist with all mold changes and set-ups; perform minor maintenance activities.
  • Follow safety rules and communicate hazards; use required PPE.
  • Provide support to Machine Operators and team members to ensure a positive team environment.
  • Perform other duties as directed by Lead/Supervisor.
  • Maintain product safety through cleanliness and reporting observations that may affect safety.
Risk to our customers
  • Immediately report unsafe acts, conditions or accidents; take reasonable care for self and others to prevent injury.
Authorization
  • Authorized trained employees may shut down equipment if continued operation threatens health, safety, or quality.
  • Recommend quarantine of out-of-specification products, materials or supplies.
  • Contact Management without fear of reprisal regarding quality, working conditions or job environment questions or concerns.
Job Specifications And Requirements
  • Education and Experience:

    High school diploma or equivalent preferred; previous manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Physical Requirements:

    Use of electric hand jack and/or forklift; lifting up to 50 pounds frequently, up to 100 pounds occasionally; standing/walking up to 11 hours per shift; ability to work 12-hour shifts including weekends and holidays; bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching, grasping, and fine motor tasks.
  • Safety Equipment:
    Head, hearing, eye protection; protective clothing including steel-toe shoes.
  • Environmental Factors:
    Continuous noise 85dB; frequent exposure to chemicals; occasional exposure to dust/fumes/gas.
  • Other Requirements:
    Ability to recognize and input numbers accurately; ability to make priority decisions; proficient hand/eye coordination to operate equipment and assemble packaging for shipment.
