About This Role

Training Centre Operations at CAE lies at the heart of our commitment to training excellence across Civil Aviation. In this role, the Flight Simulator Technician will prepare the Simulation Training Equipment for daily operation, perform visual alignment and pre/post flight tasks, carry out and evaluate Simulation Qualification testing (QTGs), and perform preventative maintenance for each training device based on the published monthly schedules.

Loads appropriate exercise scenarios and other tasks required to prepare for specific training sessions, and completes Journey Logs at the start and finish of scheduled training sessions.

The Role We Are Offering You

Position summary and responsibilities described by CAE for the Flight Simulator Technician role, including operating procedures and quality standards within the CAE environment.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and correct routine problems on the simulators and associated simulator systems.
  • Assist in diagnosing and correcting complex problems on the simulators and associated simulator systems.
  • Perform non-aircraft specific pre-flight and post-flight tasks on all simulators and aircraft-specific tasks for some.
  • Perform all visual alignments.
  • Run and evaluate Qualification Test Guide (QTG) results.
  • Utilize maintenance management system to record and track maintenance activities.
  • Train technicians in basic skills.
  • Complete all designated training activities.
  • Assist with refurbishment and hardware modifications.
  • Learn and comply with CAE quality management system.
  • Provide customer service support and address customer needs promptly.
  • Perform logistics duties, including parts received, repair, and testing/validation.
  • Perform housekeeping functions to maintain the simulators as required.
  • Perform all administrative tasks as required.
  • Actively pursue continued professional growth and training.
Our Ideal Candidate Has
  • Education & Experience Requirements
  • 2-year technical degree or equivalent related training
  • 3 years of related experience such as electronics/avionics, automated systems, or computer networking repair and troubleshooting
  • Simulator experience a plus
  • Electronic Troubleshooting Multimeter experience
  • Experience working on Legacy Devices
  • Electronics Experience
  • Familiar with visual background and knows how to align using the projector
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experienced in basic troubleshooting to system level on multiple types of simulators
  • Experienced in the use and interpretation of diagnostics available on multiple types of simulators
  • Above basic skills in the operation of test equipment
  • Above basic skills in soldering and circuit board repair
  • Basic knowledge of PCs and MS-Office tools and suite
  • Highly motivated in customer support and attention to detail
Physical Effort
  • The physical or muscular exertion required for prolonged standing, walking, and lifting or moving objects (weighing as much as 50 lbs) and the resulting fatigue from these activities
  • Work in sustained sitting, standing, stooping, and squatting positions; climbing on ladders and equipment to heights of 25 to 30 feet; ability to safely move and work on equipment in confined spaces
  • The physical dexterity required in performing tasks requiring hand/eye coordination and fine motor skills
  • Manual dexterity and experience with various hand tools; ability to work safely around complex machinery
  • Ability to maintain situational awareness and work safely around equipment with potential sudden movements
  • Ability to work safely in cool interior conditions (55–65°F)
