Lead Waste Water Treatment Operator
Job DescriptionThe Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of biosolids drying equipment at a wastewater treatment facility. This role involves monitoring system performance, conducting routine maintenance, managing material inputs and outputs, and ensuring compliance with all environmental and safety regulations.
Responsibilities- Operate and monitor biosolids drying systems (e.g., thermal dryers, belt dryers, drum dryers).
- Adjust equipment controls to maintain optimal drying temperatures, feed rates, and output moisture content.
- Perform routine inspections of equipment to detect malfunctions or potential issues.
- Collect and record process data, including temperatures, pressures, and moisture levels.
- Handle biosolids material safely during loading, drying, and storage operations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area.
- Perform minor maintenance tasks and assist with troubleshooting mechanical issues.
- Communicate with maintenance and supervisory staff regarding equipment status and repair needs.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in training and ongoing certification programs as required.
Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience in wastewater treatment, industrial drying processes, or related field preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn complex systems.
- Ability to read and interpret gauges, meters, and schematics.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and reporting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, holidays, or on-call as needed.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems or other process control interfaces (preferred).
The work is conducted in a wastewater treatment facility, which requires adherence to cleanroom protocols. The dress code may require specific safety gear to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
Job Type & LocationPermanent position based out of Orlando, FL.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $56000.00 - $58000.00/yr. Dental, Health, Vision, 401k.
Workplace TypeFully onsite position in Orlando, FL.
