SUMMARY

The Director of Philanthropy assists the President, CEO, Board of Directors and Diocesan leadership to fulfill The

Foundation’s enormous potential for mission and ministry. The Director of Philanthropy is a member of the Donor Services team and responsible for developing strategies for identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors with a focus on the donors’ philanthropic aspirations, blended gifts, planned giving and multi-year impact supporting The Foundation and Catholic-compliant organizations through endowment funds, donor advised funds and other charitable giving vehicles.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Engages in relationships through a portfolio of 125-150 donors and prospects.
  • Participates in each step of the donor pipeline including: identification, qualification, cultivation, stewardship and recognition.
  • Conducts research ensuring alignment of donor interests with Diocesan ministries and identifies prospective donors and fundraising potential.
  • Researches, identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards major and planned giving prospects through face-to-face visits, virtual meetings, calls, written communications, e-mails, events and direct response tools to acquire immediate, deferred, and future major and planned gifts.
  • Develops individual donor solicitation and stewardship plans and refines as needed to advance the number of major gift and planned giving donors at both the local and larger Church levels and to assure effectiveness, including identifying Board of Directors, staff and partner engagement.
  • Collaborates with the Vice President, CDSO to establish annual goals and strategies for blended and planned giving and gift levels of $10,000+ and recognition through annual enrollment in the different giving societies.
  • Maintains expert knowledge of specific charitable giving vehicles including but not limited to current IRS Estate Tax Codes, Charitable Gift Annuities, Charitable Remainder Trusts, Donor Advised Funds and Endowments.
  • Develops and monitors timely reports relative to major and planned gift strategies and benchmarks.
  • Works closely with the Gifts & Grants Coordinator to facilitate partnership with the Data Center to track, record, and value all expectancy, pending, and matured planned gifts.
