Title: Clinical Assistant Nurse Manager, Advanced Care
The NEW Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital represents Orlando Health’s continued commitment to the Seminole County community, which we have proudly served for 40 years. As a comprehensive acute care facility, the hospital offers a full scope of medical and surgical services, including cardiovascular, general surgery, orthopedics, and women’s services with labor and delivery, alongside a future NICU. Opening with 124 beds, the 455,000‑square‑foot hospital will be able to expand to up to 240 beds.
State‑of‑the‑art facilities include operating rooms, catheterization labs, interventional radiology, a vascular lab, an ICU and a full‑service emergency department.
The Clinical Assistant Nurse Manager (CANM) is responsible for leading the shift operations within the clinical setting to ensure delivery of high‑quality care, exceptional customer experience, and optimal patient flow. In conjunction with the Department Nursing Operations Manager and the Assistant Nursing Operations Manager, the CANM provides guidance, fosters collaboration, and is responsible for unit‑level clinical operations, including patient care assignments, customer experience, productivity, and quality outcomes.

- Participate in shared leadership structure.
- Manage staffing assignments for oncoming and outgoing shifts based on patient acuity and skill set to ensure patient care needs are met.
- Coordinate patient flow by working directly with Administrative Supervisors, Care Coordinators, and Discharge Planners to achieve expected outcomes.
- Monitor overall status of patients within area of responsibility and closely monitor status of seriously ill patients.
- Coordinate and/or participate in the delivery of patient care ensuring compliance with physician orders and established policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
- Serve as a resource supporting frontline team members and providers as appropriate.
- Support clinical collaboration focusing on expected patient length of stay.
- Perform direct patient care activities as required to meet operational needs.
- Interface with patients and families to enhance customer experience by conducting Nurse Leader rounds and investigating and responding to patient/family and physician complaints.
- Participate in and/or lead safety huddles.
- Embrace, communicate, and promote change and problem‑solving.
- Assess equipment needs to ensure staff have the needed equipment for patient care.
- Support and sustain all leader‑driven initiatives.
- Assist with retention strategies for new team members to foster a best‑place‑to‑work environment.
- Maintain a regulatory‑ready environment of care.
- Ensure appropriate allocation/adjustment of staff, assignment of meal breaks, relief of team members as indicated, etc.
- Utilize effective fiscal management skills and financial resources with decision‑making.
- Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
- Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Leadership
- Support strategic imperatives by attending leadership huddles, assisting in new nursing/clinical initiatives, and fostering positive multidisciplinary partnerships through collegial collaboration.
- Serve as a coach and mentor for the nursing team.
