Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU APRN or PA-C – Advent Health for Children – Orlando, FL (PRN Opportunity) Overview

The Pediatric APRN or PA-C, under supervision and collaboration with the Physician, is responsible for providing comprehensive care to pediatric patients in the Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU setting. The role includes admissions, consultations, follow‑up care, intubation, ventilator management, and other necessary procedures. The candidate must successfully pass a third‑party background check and pre‑employment drug screen.

• Performs admissions, consultations and follow‑up care of pediatric patients in the Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU setting, including intubation, ventilator management and other procedures that may be required.
• Manages medical and post‑operative ICU patients.
• Treats congenital heart surgery, neurosurgery, oncology, epilepsy, complex medical, and liver transplant conditions.
• Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic tests such as routine laboratory, X‑ray, etc.
• Educates patient and family on treatment plans, surgical procedures, pre‑ and post‑operative care, etc.
• Monitors the patient’s course of treatment and makes appropriate referral to either a physician or specialist, as needed.
• Collaborates with physician and staff as necessary to provide consistent care to patients and support to staff.

• Enthusiastic team player; current PCICU team consists of 5 physicians and 4 other APPs.
• Group sees over 200 heart cases annually.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule: 12‑hour shifts, days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
• Day and night shifts (6:30 am to 6:30 pm and 6:30 pm to 6:30 am).
• Ability to perform procedures: lines, intubations, etc. (highly preferred).

• Master’s degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant studies.
• Master of Science in Nursing in Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner preferred.
• 1–3 years experience as a Pediatric APRN or PA‑C in an ICU, acute care or ER setting.
• Cardiac ICU experience as an APRN or PA‑C (highly preferred).
• Experience with ECMO (highly preferred).

• Current, valid Florida APRN license (or eligibility to obtain FL licensure).
• Certification by Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) (highly preferred).
• Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with Acute Care Certification (highly preferred).
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP certification.
