Acute Care - Clinical Assistant Nurse Manager - ORMC
Position Summary:
Night shift opening. Three shifts each week from 7 pm - 7 am.
Role Summary – The Clinical Assistant Nurse Manager (CANM) leads shift operations within the clinical setting, ensuring high‑quality care, patient flow, and an excellent customer experience.
The 11LP Digestive Health Unit is a 30‑bed unit dedicated to caring for patients before and after procedures at the Digestive Health Institute. The position is part of a broader effort to establish a solid organ transplant program and will involve specialized training for staff caring for patients with complex digestive health problems.
Common Procedures You Will See On This Unit- Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy (POEM)
- Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)
- Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)

- Participate in shared leadership structure.
- Manage staffing assignments for incoming and outgoing shifts based on patient acuity and team skill sets.
- Coordinate patient flow with Administrative Supervisors, Care Coordinators, and Discharge Planners.
- Monitor overall patient status and closely supervise seriously ill patients.
- Ensure compliance with physician orders and established policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
- Serve as a resource for frontline team members and providers.
- Support clinical collaboration to optimize expected patient length of stay.
- Perform direct patient care activities as required to meet operational needs.
- Conduct Nurse Leader rounds and investigate/respond to patient/family and physician complaints.
- Participate in, or lead, safety huddles.
- Promote change and problem‑solving initiatives.
- Assess equipment needs and ensure staff have and appropriately use required equipment.
- Support and sustain all leader‑driven initiatives.
- Assist with retention strategies to foster a best‑place‑to‑work environment.
- Maintain a regulatory‑ready environment of care.
- Allocate staff, assign meal breaks, and relieve team members as indicated.
- Utilize effective fiscal management skills and financial resources in decision‑making.
- A minimum of one year of experience as a Registered Nurse; acute‑care experience preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree (BSN) preferred.
- Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Certification in area of expertise preferred.
