Our mental health facility provides safe and effective inpatient treatment to assist individuals in leading more productive and fulfilling lives. The facility is located on a beautiful 14-acre campus in Orlando, Florida, and includes 112 licensed beds.
Overview Of Position - Psych Nurse (RN)
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Psychiatric Nurse to join our healthcare team at University Behavioral Center, located in Orlando, Florida. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mental health practices and be committed to providing high-quality care to patients. This role involves working closely with individuals experiencing psychiatric disorders, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being while promoting recovery and rehabilitation.
Sign-on Bonus: $3,000 with commitment
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' mental health status and needs.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Administer medications and monitor patient responses to treatment.
- Provide therapeutic interventions, including crisis intervention and supportive counseling.
- Perform physical examinations and vital signs monitoring as required.
- Engage in patient education regarding mental health conditions and treatment options.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills in psychiatric nursing.

Qualifications
- Current license to practice nursing in the State of Florida (or eligible to receive or renew).
- Current CPR or BLS certification.
- Preferred one year of experience working in a psychiatric inpatient setting with patients aged 5-65yrs+.
Work hours:
12-hour shifts; day or night shift available; rotating weekends
Skills:
- Proficiency in medical terminology for medical documentation is preferred.
- Experience with behavioral health patient is preferred.
- Knowledge of patient care principles for adult psychiatric patients is beneficial.
- Familiarity with older adult care practices is advantageous.
- Experience working with children in a psychiatric setting is highly desirable.
- Competence in taking vital signs accurately.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Strong critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills.
