Hospital Overview

Orlando Health Watson Clinic Lakeland Highlands Hospital is a state‑of‑the‑art, seven‑story, multi‑specialty facility covering 550,000 square feet. It will offer:

Position Summary

The Clinical Assistant Nurse Manager (CANM) leads shift operations within the clinical setting to ensure delivery of high‑quality care, an exceptional customer experience, and optimal patient flow. In partnership with the Department Nursing Operations Manager and the Assistant Nursing Operations Manager (ANOM), the CANM provides guidance, fosters collaboration, and is responsible for the unit’s clinical operations including patient care assignments, customer experience, productivity, and quality outcomes for acute‑care patients.

Responsibilities
  • Exemplify the mission, vision, and values of Orlando Health.
  • Participate in shared leadership structure.
  • Manage staffing assignments for incoming and outgoing shifts based on patient acuity and team skill sets.
  • Coordinate patient flow with Administrative Supervisors, Care Coordinators, and Discharge Planners to achieve expected outcomes.
  • Monitor overall patient status in the area of responsibility and oversee seriously ill patients.
  • Coordinate and/or participate in delivery of patient care, ensuring compliance with physician orders and established policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
  • Serve as a resource supporting front‑line team members and providers as appropriate.
  • Support clinical collaboration focusing on expected patient length of stay.
  • Perform direct patient care activities as required to meet operational needs.
  • Interface with patients and families to enhance customer experience by conducting Nurse Leader rounds and investigating and responding to complaints.
  • Participate in and/or lead safety huddles.
  • Embrace, communicate, and promote change and problem solving.
  • Assess equipment needs to ensure staff have the necessary equipment for patient care and utilize it appropriately.
  • Support and sustain all leader‑driven initiatives.
  • Assist with retention strategies for new team members that foster a best‑place‑to‑work environment.
  • Maintain a regulatory‑ready environment of care.
  • Ensure appropriate allocation/adjustment of staff, assignment of meal breaks, relief of team members as indicated.
  • Utilize effective fiscal management skills and financial resources with decision‑making.
  • Maintain reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
