Responsibilities
Central Florida Behavioral Hospital is a 174‑bed private psychiatric center located in Orlando, FL. The hospital provides 24‑hour emergency services and offers inpatient, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and ECT services for children, adolescents and adults.
Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse will provide nursing care for psychiatric patients—including child, adolescent, geriatric, and chemical dependency patients—using the nursing process. Duties include assessing mental health needs, developing nursing diagnoses, setting and evaluating outcomes, administering and monitoring medication and treatment effects, ensuring safety, and providing milieu management and crisis intervention strategies. We are currently seeking a full‑time Registered Nurse.
- Provide leadership and direction to licensed vocational nurses, psychiatric technicians, and counselors.
- Direct milieu management.
- Provide assessment of patients’ psychiatric and medical status.
- Contribute to treatment plans as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
- Document nursing care, treatment, and patients’ responses to treatment.
- Recognize signs and symptoms of mental health and chemical dependency disorders and apply appropriate treatment interventions.
Orientation:
Must be available to attend the full hospital and departmental orientations:
Week 1:
Monday‑Friday 8 AM‑5 PM;
Week 2:
Monday & Tuesday 9 AM‑5 PM.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Associate’s Degree) required; BSN preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Florida required.
- Minimum of one (1) year related experience required; psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Hours:
Day Shift 7 AM‑7 PM (rotating weekends required).
