Unit Description

Unit

Description:

The Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at Advent Health Orlando is a fast‑paced, 40‑bed ICU step‑down unit on the 7th floor of Ginsburg Tower that cares for a diverse and acutely ill cardiac population. Our team specializes in managing patients requiring advanced heart‑failure therapies including ventricular assist devices (VADs), artificial hearts, and heart transplants as well as those recovering from complex cardiac surgeries such as CABG, valve repairs, and other cardiac procedures.

Nurses routinely manage cardiac drips, antiarrhythmics, inotropes, multiple chest tubes, and other high‑acuity needs in a dynamic environment. Typical RN ratios are 3:4, occasionally stretching to 5:1 depending on acuity. With an energetic and highly supportive interdisciplinary team, strong physician collaboration, and a culture that values growth, education, and teamwork, the Cardiac PCU offers an exceptional environment for nurses dedicated to providing advanced, compassionate cardiac care.
