Job Description:

Unit Highlights

The Cardiac Medical Intensive Care Unitis comprised of 40 patient beds and the largest critical care unit in the Advent Health system. Located on the 5thFloor of the Ginsburg Tower on the Orlando Campus. The highly skilled staff of our unit provide care to some of the most acutely ill patients in Central Florida. We provide care to a broad spectrum of patients that include those with advanced heart failure, ventricular assist devices, pre and post heart and lung transplantation, pulmonary hypertension, sepsis, cardiac arrest, and various other critically acute conditions.

Our talented staff is thoroughly trained in over 20 specialty skills. This is in conjunction with our amazing interdisciplinary team consisting of critical care physicians, cardiologist, respiratory therapy, registered dietitians. Daily rounds are conducted so that disciplines come together to coordinate patient care priorities, establish daily goals, and plans for discharge.

The role you’ll contribute

The Registered Professional Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care responsibilities to identified age specific groups. Utilizes the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating) in achieving the goals of the nursing department. Adheres to the Advent Health Corporate Compliance Plan and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.

Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors of patients.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and standards of care, regularly evaluating and revising these plans as necessary.
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician orders and hospital protocols, and monitor for adverse reactions.
  • Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatments, medications, and self-care strategies to promote understanding and compliance.
  • Collaborate with medical staff and ancillary departments to coordinate and optimize patient care, ensuring effective communication and teamwork.
