Job Summary
:
Responsible for verifying the completeness of incoming shipments against receiving reports such as bills of lading, invoices, RGR, and internal transfer documents.

Duties and Responsibilities
:

• Checks and verifies incoming and outgoing merchandise deliveries, vendor and warehouse transfer merchandise, signs pertinent receiving documents and verifies merchandise received.
• Assists in loading and unloading delivery trucks.
• Checks incoming shipments for spoilage or damage.
• Estimates and monitors the purchase of perishable and non‑perishable merchandise for assigned section and advises vendors of adjustments in daily or weekly orders.
• Prepares breakout of merchandise from backup warehouse storage areas, marks or supervises the marking and stocking of merchandise.
• Disposes of return‑to‑vendor merchandise from departments.
• Ensures security of spaces and that no merchandise moves from receiving area without proper completion and verification of receiving documents.
• Provides work direction and orientation to lower‑graded store workers of stock and supervises the storage of merchandise in stock area.
• Moves merchandise from stock area to sales area, determines display area and shelf space for items in retail area in coordination with supervisor, and prioritizes work to be accomplished daily.
• Participates in inventory counts, counts stock on scheduled dates, and advises supervisor of slow‑moving or damaged items.
• Maintains responsible areas in a neat and orderly manner, observes and enforces all safety, sanitary regulations and practices.
• May operate materials handling equipment in carrying out assigned duties.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical Demands
:
Performs work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and moving arms while filling shelves and counters. May lift and carry merchandise up to 50 pounds and occasionally over 50 pounds.

Working Conditions
:
Work is performed in store display areas that are well lit and maintained at a comfortable temperature. In the storage area or loading/unloading dock exposure may occur to hot or cold weather or damp and drafty conditions. Exposure to the possibility of injury from falling or dropping stock and cuts, bruises, and lacerations is possible.

General Experience
:
One year of experience performing warehousing‑related duties such as receiving, storing, issuing, shipping, operation of manual material‑movement equipment, etc., or similar work that provided the knowledge and skills to perform the duties of the position.

Substitution of Education for Experience
:
One year of high‑school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of general experience.

Specialized Experience
:
One year of warehousing experience including work that demonstrated the ability to prepare material receiving and transfer documentation, provide direction to lower‑graded warehouse workers, and ability to operate a forklift.
