Substation Technician

OUC - The Reliable One , is presently seeking a Substation Technician I (Journeyman Substation Technician) to join the Trans, Substation Construction & Maintenance Division. We are looking for a dependable, safety‑focused professional to assist in maintaining and operating substation equipment as part of OUC’s progressive craft career ladder.

In this role, you will be responsible for working with crews to maintain and test all substation equipment under the direction of a Lead Substation Technician; assisting with both high‑and low‑voltage switching activities; reviewing job assignments and safety procedures daily; preparing vehicles, tools, and equipment for upcoming assignments; and supporting the training of newer Substation Technician II and IIIs. You will also take initiative in completing required safety and job‑skills training, maintain responsibility for assigned equipment, and perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or GED;
• Minimum of nine (9) years’ experience in substation construction, maintenance, and testing or six and a half (6.5) years total progressive OUC substation technician experience that includes three and a half (3.5) years’ experience as an OUC Substation Technician II (required);
• Completion of Substation Technician II sign-off book involving the mechanics, hydraulics, and electrical maintenance of substation equipment;
• Maintenance of all safety certifications acquired at the Apprentice Substation Technician through Substation Technician II levels;
• Completion of required online and on-the-job trainings from Apprentice Substation Technician through Substation Technician II levels;
• Must possess a current and valid Florida Driver’s License;
• Class A CDL (required);
• Tanker endorsement (preferred);
• Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) clearance, or ability to acquire within six (6) months of hire

Salary Range: $48.16 hourly ($ annually) - $52.54 hourly ($ annually) - commensurate with experience
