Senior Python Software Engineer – AWS​/DevOps

• Location: Orlando, FL (Hybrid - onsite 2-4 days per week; subject to change)
• Contract: W2 only, 12 month contract with potential for extension or conversion to full time with either the client or CEI
• Pay: $80-85/hour + optional medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build reliable, high-throughput, low-latency services and cloud infrastructure components. This role focuses on scalable backend engineering, Dev Ops best practices, and thoughtful system design to support performance and growth in modern distributed environments.

• Design and implement scalable, well-documented software with strong performance and reliability characteristics
• Build and enhance cloud infrastructure components and supporting services
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and cross-functional partners to drive engineering proposals and best practices
• Define low-level implementation details, including data structures, code organization, and maintainable patterns
• Recommend technical approaches that address scaling, performance, and architectural evolution
• Conduct thorough code reviews and ensure high engineering standards
• Provide technical mentorship and guidance to team members

• 5+ years of software development experience, including distributed systems and data-focused problem solving
• Expert-level programming ability with strong attention to time/space complexity and maintainable design
• Strong Python development experience
• Dev Ops practices including CI/CD, containerization (Docker), testing, and automation
• Hands-on experience implementing solutions on AWS (e.g., IAM, S3, Kinesis, Lambda, SNS)
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tooling (e.g., Terraform, Cloud Formation, CDK)

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent related experience

• Proficiency in at least one strongly typed language (e.g., Type Script, Java)
• Knowledge of trade-offs across data storage systems and architectures (e.g., SQL vs. No

• Demonstrated ability to generalize and reuse existing services and implementations
• Strong ability to stay current on modern software engineering and data management practices
