Senior Software Engineer, Accounting Integrations

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Accounting Integrations who’s excited to make an impact. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the development, testing, and maintenance of scalable integration architectures using JavaScript/Type Script and Node.js. You will design robust REST APIs, webhooks, and event-driven AWS serverless workflows (including Lambda, SQS, and Step Functions) to seamlessly sync data with external accounting platforms.

Additionally, you will diagnose and resolve complex system issues, mentor junior engineers, and leverage modern AI-assisted development tools to ensure maximum accuracy, performance, and reliability across our integrations.

You’ll have ownership, clarity, and support to solve real problems, make a visible impact for our customers, and continue growing as your role evolves.

On the Accounting Integrations team, you’ll have the opportunity to architect and scale mission-critical integrations that seamlessly bridge our platform with external financial ecosystems. You will take full ownership of high-volume, event-driven serverless systems, leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate innovation, and mentor fellow engineers while tackling complex engineering challenges that directly impact the daily operations of thousands of commercial contractors.

If there’s a problem in our system, no matter where the root cause lies, you pursue it until it’s resolved, ensuring our customers experience a seamless service. You never compromise on quality and are always looking for ways to improve performance, scalability, and efficiency. Lead the development, testing, and maintenance of scalable codebase for complex accounting integrations and other products as necessary.

Collaborate with and mentor junior engineers, fostering best practices in advanced software engineering principles and techniques.

Language Expertise:
Strong proficiency in JavaScript/Type Script and Node.js;
Familiarity with Python for data-focused backend systems is a plus.

AWS Ecosystem:
Experience with AWS infrastructure, including Lambda, SQS/DLQs, S3, DynamoDB, Step Functions.

Data & Infrastructure:
Experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB/Document DB. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and event-driven systems.

A proactive approach to identifying and solving technical challenges with a focus on performance and scalability.

AI-Assisted Development:
Practical experience using AI coding tools (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) to accelerate delivery - and the judgment to review, test, and own the output.
