Job Title: Maintenance Controller
Location: Orlando, FL
Department: Maintenance Control
Reports To: Manager of Maintenance Control
FLSA Status: Exempt
Duties, Responsibilities, and Authority:
- Coordinates with Flight Operations and Quality Control to determine whether an inoperative item on aircraft can be deferred, allowing the aircraft to continue to its destination. Advises Operations Control regarding aircraft status. Responds via phone to requests for information in a clear and understandable manner
- Supervises, directs, and works with Company and contract maintenance personnel in troubleshooting aircraft and systems ensuring airworthiness in accordance with Company Maintenance manuals and procedures. Assists flight crews with troubleshooting of problems.
- Duties of the Maintenance Controllers include but are not limited to the following:
- Retrieves information from and refers to Aircraft Manuals, Company Manuals and other approved resources in order to Troubleshoot, repair, identify parts and obtain part numbers
- Provides repair history information to Maintenance personnel
- Coordinates the procurement of parts related to inoperative items. Coordinates with the AOG Purchaser on duty
- Coordinates the procurement and allocation of special tooling for the line stations to repair or test inoperative items
- Coordinates with Maintenance ensuring Mechanics are available to perform repairs, including contract personnel. Coordinates with Flight Control as needed in order to send Mechanics with aircraft to perform repairs
- Provides current aircraft status and schedules based on reports from Maintenance, Quality Control, and flight crew
- Reviews aircraft logs and recommends repair priorities to Maintenance Department
- Works with other airline personnel involved with contract maintenance of Company aircraft
- Coordinate corrective actions when notified of technical problems or contamination encountered during fueling.
- Ensures that DMI procedures are adhered to. Reviews of previous shift DMI entries – Opened, Deferred, or Closed – have been performed. Performance of audit of these entries for completeness and accuracy have been accomplished.
- Reviews and keeps the Maintenance Controller Log up to date and accurate
- Provides technical assistance in support of maintenance operations
- Reviews all aircraft discrepancies. Identify repetitive items and ensure that a plan is organized and implemented to troubleshoot and repairs repetitive items in a timely manner. Coordinates all activity with department heads
- Reviews all aircraft discrepancies and delays for possible MISR/SDR reportable items. Follows procedures for MISR/SDR data collection
- Monitors all delays and follow delay report procedures
- Coordinate and arrange for aircraft Navigational Systems Database updates.
- Provide updated FAK weight changes to SOC/Dispatch when changes are made.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications &
Experience:
- Must possess a valid FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) rating
- Have at least three years maintenance experience on different types of large airplanes with an air carrier
- Have completed all initial and recurrent training required to ensure that they are qualified to perform their duties
Knowledge, Skills Abilities:
- Ability to use technical manuals, good mechanical aptitude and solve problems effectively.
- Ability to stay focused and work under pressure.
- Previous leadership experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Organized self‑directed individual who is a team player with strong work ethics
- Must be able to prioritize effectively
- Strong analytical skills
- Must be punctual and Reliable.
Certificates/Licenses:
- Airframe and Power plant Certificate
- Federal Communications Commission license, preferred.
