We are looking for a reliable, enthusiastic, and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to join our friendly team at Burscough Manor Care Home. This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for food and service who wants to make a real difference to the daily lives of our residents. As a Kitchen Assistant, you'll be a key part of our catering team, helping to deliver high‑quality, nutritious meals every day.

You'll work closely with our Chef to ensure residents enjoy fresh, home‑cooked food in a clean and welcoming environment.

Responsibilities
  • Assisting with the preparation and serving of meals, snacks, and beverages
  • Ensuring the kitchen and food service areas are clean, tidy, and meet hygiene standards
  • Supporting the Chef with food storage, stock rotation, and deliveries
  • Washing up and general kitchen cleaning tasks
  • Helping to cater for individual dietary needs and preferences
  • Maintaining health & safety and food hygiene practices at all times
  • Playing an active part in creating a warm, supportive mealtime experience for residents
Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a catering or kitchen assistant is desirable but not essential – we value attitude and enthusiasm just as much
  • A Food Hygiene Certificate is ideal but not required – full training is provided
  • Someone with good communication skills and a can‑do approach
  • A team player who is happy to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in
  • A genuine interest in working within a care setting, where your work directly impacts people’s wellbeing
