General Summary & ScopeThe Master Stylist engages guests, consults on hair care, recommends products and services, and supports the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager through performance, people, and process.
PrincipalDuties & Responsibilities Performance
- Perform hair services: design, cuts, color, texture, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin, extensions, makeup, ear piercing (where applicable).
- Meet or exceed a $1250 average weekly sales goal and productivity goals for hair services.
- Perform product demonstrations to drive sales and guest service experience.
- Support in‑store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
- Stay informed about new industry trends, products, and services and be knowledgeable about ingredients and benefits.
- Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
- Develop guest relationships through consultations and recommendations.
- Serve all guests, including walk‑ins, in a timely and efficient manner.
- Partner with skin therapists and the retail team for a total‑store experience.
- Foster peer and brand partner relationships.
- Share benefits of the guest loyalty program, Ulta Beauty app, and credit with guests.
- Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for continuous professional development.
- Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
- Follow all safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures before, during, and after services.
- Follow established service protocols for a consistent guest experience.
- Use booking and clientele systems to book guests for return services and events.
- Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager.
- Maintain store operational standards, including cleanliness of salon, salesfloor, restrooms, backroom, break area, and any additional area.
- Adhere to the Ulta Beauty dress code.
- Protect company assets by following loss prevention best practices and providing exceptional guest service.
- Execute other operational tasks as directed.
- Cosmetology license.
- Previous relevant work experience is required.
- Proficiency with latest salon techniques and an aptitude to develop skills across all service categories.
- Proficiency with equipment and chemicals needed for technical work.
- Proficiency to demonstrate, recommend, and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
- Developed communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and build clientele.
Position Requirements
- Work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Continuous mobility during shift.
- Continuous lifting and/or moving up to 10 lbs. during shift.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and twisting during shift.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time during shift.
- Continuous coordination and manipulation of objects during shift.
