Overview

The Senior Accountant/Accounting Supervisor will oversee accounting operations and supervise and audit the workflow of the Accounting Staff under the supervision of the Controller and Transition Lead. This role is responsible for performing a variety of technical and administrative accounting work and applies accounting principles and methods when helping to maintain fiscal records and systems of the company.

The Senior Accountant is responsible for all accounting functions including cost accounting, maintaining subsidiary and general ledgers, and assisting to maintain internal controls. Assists Controller in recording, maintaining and reconciling fixed assets, reconciling accounting records, reviewing journal payment vouchers, preparing budgets, and other related accounting work.

Essential Functions
  • Duties include maintaining account accuracy in the areas of cost accounting and tax accounting.
  • Responsible for the full cycle accounting process to include accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue recognition, and cost accounting.
  • Will oversee accounting department, month‑end closing, and will assist Controller in preparation of all audit and tax schedules.
  • Reviewing assignments related to project accounting, including but not limited to payroll allocations, contract reconciliations, dispatch accuracy, SOA accuracy and review.
  • Responsible to complete with accuracy timber tax preparation, and project costing.
  • Ad hoc projects with the Controller, Transition Lead, and Business Operations Team as needed.
  • Serve as a team leader, facilitator, or participant as needed based on project demands.
  • Coordinate and assist in the completion of period closing activities, journal entries, reconciliation schedules, and analysis to ensure accuracy, thoroughness, timeliness, and provide management with accurate and professional information.
  • Update various periodic or quarterly financial and operational reports for use by Controller.
  • Participate in the annual budget process and assist with variance resolution.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.
  • Handle all day‑to‑day accounting questions from multiple departments, providing guidance on accounting policies and best practices.
  • Responsible for documentation of all accounting‑related processes and controls to maintain consistency and compliance.
  • Oversee the use of Quick Books software, provide training to team members, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Assess current practices and procedures and make recommendations to the Controller for improvements.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of all sensitive data and adherence to internal control policies.
  • Understand appropriate discretion with confidential Company Information.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervising the accounting staff, providing assistance, training, and guidance as needed to meet established reporting timelines and criteria.
  • Manage a team of 3 to 8 accounting professionals, including accounting assistants and bookkeepers.
  • Supervising the general and project accounting workflow functions, including, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
  • Supervise the daily functions and activities of the accounting department to ensure standards for accuracy, thoroughness, and timeliness are met.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and direct the workload of accounting staff to ensure assignments are completed in accordance with established company policies and deadlines.
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and performance management, including conducting reviews, addressing development needs, and handling disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Onboard new accounting professionals and ensure proper separation of duties to maintain compliance with internal controls.
  • Train and develop accounting staff to maintain the required level of professional competence, including mentorship, coaching, and performance management.
