Senior / Associate Surveyor - Fire Safety
Location: Orpington with Hybrid Working
Hours: 35 per week
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Senior or Associate Building Surveyor specialising in Fire Safety to join a leading multi-disciplinary construction and property consultancy. This role offers the chance to work on a wide range of high quality projects while helping to shape and grow a specialist fire safety service.
The Role
You will take a leading role in delivering comprehensive fire safety surveying services, managing complex projects and developing strong client relationships. You will also play an important part in supporting and mentoring junior team members.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering a range of fire safety surveying services including compartmentation surveys and fire door inspections
- Undertaking external wall system surveys and producing PAS 9980 FRAEW assessments
- Reviewing fire strategies and preparing reports for clients
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships while identifying new business opportunities
- Supporting the wider building surveying team with general surveying services including condition surveys, defects analysis and party wall matters
- Sharing technical knowledge across the practice and mentoring junior staff
About You
Qualifications
- BSc or MSc in Building Surveying
- MRICS, AIFireE or working towards an appropriate professional qualification
- Full UK driving licence and access to transport
Knowledge and Experience
- Strong understanding of fire safety design, building construction and relevant legislation
- Experience of pre contract matters and delivering projects through their full lifecycle
- Familiarity with standard forms of contract including the JCT suite
Key Skills
- FRAEW experience with RICS External Wall Assessment and ability to sign EWS1 preferred
- Fire Door Inspection qualification such as DipFD or equivalent
- Passive Fire Protection training such as ASFP or equivalent
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to produce high quality written reports
- Confident mentoring and development of junior colleagues
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Detailed working knowledge of commonly used building contracts
