SummarySets up and operates power brake to bend, notch, punch, form rolls, arc, or straighten metal plates or sheet metal and structural shapes to blueprint or sketch specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Selects, positions, and aligns dies in machine ram and bed.
- Turns setscrews or bolts to fasten clamp bar that holds dies in position.
- Turns adjustment screws to set specified pressure of ram and clearance between dies to thickness of metal, as indicated by calibrated scale or feelers.
- Lays out or details layout on work stock from blueprints or templates.
- Sets up CNC back gauge.
- Starts machine to lower ram or depresses pedal to activate ram that bends metal.
- Sets stops on machine bed and repositions stock to run successive pieces, or to perform multiple operations.
- Verifies dimensions of workpiece, first piece and random inspection of production.
- Devises and builds temporary dies.
Other duties may be assigned.

QualificationsEducation and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be able to read blueprints and inspect own parts.
Language SkillsAbility to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Frequently required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, and talk or hear. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently up to 10 pounds, occasionally up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required: close vision.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and vibration. Noise level usually loud.
